August 2026 Update
Dear neighbors, friends, and community leaders,
Happy new (school) year! From watching an amazing game of FCEF Family Feud at convocation, to celebrating teachers' years of service, to honoring the incredible public service record of retiring City Manager Wyatt Shields, to seeing our children off to school this week, it has been exciting to get back to school.
I wanted to turn your attention to a few key items on our School Board docket as the new year begins.
First, one of our board goals this year is to write a new policy for Tech Use in Schools. To that end, we are asking for community input. Our official statement on this work, as well as opportunities for engagement, can be found here. I would like to especially ask you to consider applying to be on our ad hoc committee (application due September 4). Don't delay - we would love to have you be part of this important work.

Please look for upcoming opportunities to contribute to our strategic planning process, and to continue the conversation about AI, Wellness, Equity & Belonging, and facilities. If there is anything else on your mind as the school year begins, please reach out!
I am working hard to bring my knowledge, experience, and heart to these topics, and am grateful for your advocacy and engagement. Thank you for the important role you play in FCCPS. Just like we tell our students, we are good people who can accomplish great things.
